Sometimes life can be so unfair – especially when it’s only just begun. This young newlywed couple from Kansas were involved in a fatal car crash that put a premature end to their marital bliss.
They were married for only one day.
According to this report by The Wichita Eagle, the newlywed couple lost their lives after the silver Ford truck the husband was driving apparently went off road and crashed into a tree. The truck was discovered laying on its side against the tree as Sedgwick County deputies arrived on the scene.
The crash occurred sometime before 6:30 p.m. local time on August 6, near the City of Clearwater.
Husband Austin Wesson was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife Rebekah Bouma was taken to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries at 12:30 a.m. on August 7.
Tony Ryff, dean of the Christian school Trinity Academy, remembered Rebekah as a person who had a strong faith in God and was good with people. Tony laments:
“She was a delightful young lady. She was a great student, had great character, and she loved people. She was the kind of person who looked for ways to encourage friendships among other young ladies.”
Rachel Byker Bouma, Rebekah’s mother, went on Facebook to ask for prayers during this difficult and painful period. Read her viral Facebook post here:
According to Lt. Lin Dehning of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, the cause of this car crash is currently being investigated.
Gone too soon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by this awful tragedy.
